Michigan has spent the tenth most on prescription drugs since 2019
Michigan spent $12.82 billion on prescription drugs in 2019, the most recent year for which data is available, according to a new report from online pharmaceutical company NiceRx. This ranks 10th among the 50 states nationally.
$5.85 billion was spent by commercial sources, NiceRx found, including $4.77 billion from Medicare and $1.97 billion from Medicaid. More than $235 million in cash was spent on prescription drugs in Michigan in 2019.
