JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – St. Bernard Medical Center held a job fair on Monday as the organization has grown rapidly over the past few years.
St. Bernard’s Director of Media Relations Mitchell Nail said it was the biggest recruiting event they’ve ever held and offered plenty of options for those looking for a career in the medical field.
“We have departments from across the medical center involved in this,” he said. “I think it shows the amount of opportunity and growth that can be achieved at our hospital.”
St. Bernard’s was looking to fill a variety of positions, including nurses and therapists, as well as positions for their nutrition and environmental services departments.
Nail said health care has seen a boom in opportunity.
“One thing I think we need to take note of is that health care is projected by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics as the fastest growing employment sector over the next 10 years,” he said. he declared. “We want to make sure that we are never in a job shortage situation.”
Job seeker Renee Cox said the event was extremely helpful.
Cox has been retired for a few years and wanted to find a way to re-enter the workforce.
“It’s very helpful because there are a lot of people looking for a job and they don’t know it’s here,” Cox said. “I’m a retiree, and this kind of living room allows me to take small steps to get back into the swing of things.”
Nail was very happy with the turnout and thought the event would really help increase the number of jobs in the hospital.
